Discover an integrated approach to trauma healing that brings together timeless wisdom, contemporary psychological understanding, and a rich toolkit of mindful-somatic practices...

Over the past several decades, our understanding of psychological trauma has evolved considerably. We're increasingly recognizing the importance of working not only with thoughts and emotions, but also with the body, nervous system, and our capacity for mindful presence.

Contemporary approaches such as Somatic Experiencing, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Hakomi, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and EMDR have contributed valuable insights into trauma healing. Yet many of their underlying principles reflect wisdom extending back thousands of years—recognizing the interconnectedness of mind and body, the transformative power of awareness, and our innate capacity for healing.

This comprehensive training draws upon these shared foundations, bringing together timeless wisdom and contemporary psychological understanding into a practical, integrated approach to trauma therapy.

Through a combination of theory, experiential exercises, demonstrations, and guided practice, you will:

  • Develop a coherent framework for understanding trauma—exploring how emotional and traumatic states relate to patterns of nervous system arousal, and how this understanding can guide effective therapeutic interventions.
  • Learn a practical map of the trauma healing process, moving through the essential stages of establishing safety and resourcing, trauma processing, and integration.
  • Deepen your own capacity for mindful presence and groundedness, strengthening your ability to remain attuned and emotionally available while supporting clients through challenging experiences, and reducing the risk of overwhelm and burnout.
  • Develop a versatile toolkit of mindful-somatic practices that you can integrate into your existing therapeutic work, helping clients to:
    • Cultivate greater groundedness, presence, and emotional regulation.
    • Develop a healthier relationship with their feelings, needs, and bodily experience.
    • Work more confidently with intense emotions and nervous system activation.
    • Distinguish between constructive emotional processing and becoming overwhelmed or caught in traumatic responses.
    • Work with traumatic memories, flashbacks, intrusive experiences, and other manifestations of unresolved trauma.
    • Recognize and work compassionately with different aspects or "parts" of the self, supporting greater internal harmony and integration.

Throughout the training, the emphasis is on developing an embodied understanding of these principles, rather than simply learning techniques—supporting your growth as both a practitioner and a human being.

The Structure of the Training

The training follows three essential, interconnected stages of trauma therapy: Resourcing, Trauma Processing, and Integration.

Stage 1: Establishing a Foundation & Resourcing

We begin by establishing a solid foundation on two levels:

  1. Developing an understanding of the theory and practice underlying this integrative approach to trauma therapy.
  2. Cultivating the therapeutic skills and personal capacities needed to navigate the often challenging terrain of trauma recovery. This includes deepening our own mindfulness, groundedness, and self-care, while learning to establish a strong therapeutic alliance rooted in safety, trust, and empathy.

We then turn our attention to resourcing—helping our clients (and ourselves) develop greater capacity to manage overwhelming emotions, regulate nervous system arousal, and cultivate inner stability through mindful-somatic practices.

We often refer to this stage as "establishing a base camp"—creating the safety, stability, and confidence needed before venturing into the more vulnerable terrain of trauma processing.

Stage 2: Trauma Processing

With a solid foundation in place—our "base camp" established—we're ready to venture into the deeper work of processing unresolved trauma.

In this stage, we'll explore and practice an integrative approach to trauma processing, drawing upon a range of mindful-somatic principles and practices. Particular attention will be given to recognizing what is most appropriate for each client's unique circumstances, capacities, and experiences, while maintaining the safety and groundedness established in the first stage.

We'll also explore ways of working with specific trauma-related experiences, including dissociation, flashbacks, nightmares, and intrusive memories.

Finally, we'll learn to work compassionately with different aspects or "parts" of the self. Particularly in developmental trauma, these parts can become disconnected or caught in conflicting patterns of feeling, belief, and behavior. We'll explore how mindful awareness and somatic engagement can support greater internal harmony and integration.

Stage 3: Integration

As unresolved trauma is processed and healing unfolds, people often experience meaningful shifts in their sense of self, values, interests, relationships, and ways of engaging with the world.

In this final stage, we explore how to support clients in integrating these changes into their everyday lives—helping them embody new ways of relating to themselves and others, reconnect with what feels meaningful, and carry their growing sense of wholeness beyond the therapy room. The training follows three essential, interconnected stages of trauma therapy: Resourcing, Trauma Processing, and Integration.
